On 6 March 2026, a joint advocacy letter was signed and sent to His Excellency Bapak Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Industry of Republic of Indonesia to address issues related to the implementation of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).
The advocacy is supported by the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Indonesia, the European Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, the Jakarta Japan Club, the Danish-Indonesian Business Chamber, the British Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, and the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.
The advocacy proposed four key objectives:
1. Providing clearer and more detailed guidance on the implementation of import verification requirements and enhance transparency and predictability in the SNI certification approval process.
2. Strengthening the role of Private Product Certification Body (LSPro) and recognizing Apostille for SNI certification.
3. Expediting the approval process for SNI certification applications that are currently under evaluation.
4. Allowing flexibility in the appointment of business representatives and sustainability in Indonesia.
We are confident that this will benefit Indonesia as well by strengthening its attractiveness as an investment destination and help reach the governments 8% economic growth target.
